HISTORY

It was said that the first management team of the school struggled to come up with a suitable emblem for HTS. Due to this it was decided that the first suggestion to be brought forward would also be the final decision.

One day John Powell, an avid smoker was sitting in the teachers lounge looking out at his Peugeot 404. He started to draw the lion, added a hammer and handed it to the team.

Moto:

Manu et Mente - With hand and mind

The colours represent:

Red - Determination

Yellow - Versatility

Blue - Wisdom and Knowledge

In blue and red our heads held high

Our futures aimd towards the sky.

We lead the pack we stand up tall

In God we trust and heed His call.

CHORUS

We are proud we are strong

United here where we belong

We are stronger than we were before

We are LIONS - hear us ROAR

With hands and minds we build our force

We lay our paths with no discourse

Our hopes, our dreams, our fait, our hearts

In this LION PRIDE we play our part.

CHORUS

We are proud we are strong

United here where we belong

We are stronger than we were before

We are LIONS - hear us ROAR

ORIGINAL SCHOOL ANTHEM

The original school anthem was written and composed in 1963 by then Afrikaans teacher Dr. J.J. Joubert
